The 14th Odesa International Film Festival announces the jury panel responsible for appraising films in the current year's programme of the International European Competition.
The jury panel includes Dmytro Sukholitky-Sobchuk (Ukraine), Simone Baumann (Germany), and Edvinas Pukšta (Lithuania).
Dmytro Sukholitky-Sobchuk is a Ukrainian director, a member of the European Film Academy and the Ukrainian Film Academy. He is a participant of the Ukrainian documentary collective Babylon13, as well as Berlinale Talents and Locarno Film Academy. He founded the screenwriting platform Terrarium. His short narrative film "Weightlifter" was a contender for the European Film Award and received the Best Short Film Award at Animateka International Animated Film Festival. His documentary "Liturgy of Tank Obstacles" has been showcased at various film festivals, including SUNDANCE, TIFF, IDFA, and more. His debut feature film "Pamphyr" premiered in the Directors' Fortnight program at Cannes Film Festival 2022 and was nominated for the European Film Award for Best Debut in 2022.
Simone Baumann is the director of German Films. With over 25 years of experience in film production, she has created numerous documentaries and feature films. Until March 2019, she headed the documentary department at Saxonia Entertainment GmbH. From 1997 to 2010, she was the managing director of the independent production company LE VISION. In 2019, Simona Baumann became the managing director of German Films.
Edvinas Pukšta is a Lithuanian programmer and film selector, a member of the European Film Academy. He is a member of the selection committee for the "White Nights" film festival. He also serves as the artistic director of the TARTUFF festival. For over 15 years, Edvinas has been a programmer at the Vilnius International Film Festival. He has served on the jury at the Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Warsaw Film Festival, Trieste Film Festival, and more.
As a reminder, the 14th Odesa International Film Festival will take place from August 19 to 26 in the city of Chernivtsi.
