In Lysychansk, mobile communication is still unavailable after being cut off by Russian forces. Local residents are forced to travel to Novoaydars or Starobilsk to contact their families.

In the area of the former GTV factory, there are places where a signal can still be caught. However, locals spread this information cautiously, fearing a repeat of the situation in Sievierodonetsk, where Russian forces found similar "communication islands" and deprived people of the ability to use them.
Meanwhile, in Luhansk, Russian forces have set up New Year trees symbolizing administrative-territorial units of the so-called LNR. They decorate them, attempting to take into account the "unique features" of each municipality.
The tree from Sokologirsk (formerly Pervomaisk) was adorned with ornaments resembling coal—a symbol of the coal industry that was once the pride of the city. However, during the years of occupation, all the mines in the region were closed, as even representatives of the occupation administration confirm. Coal now only exists in the form of decorative ornaments.
