The Ministry of Defense has started testing special modular body armor for the needs of the Naval Forces and engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense announced this on Facebook.

The uniqueness of such body armor lies in the fact that upon contact with water, a special module reacts, and the body armor functions as a life-saving device.

"The Ministry of Defense received a request to develop such a special module for body armor. The main task is to save the lives of servicemen on water. We understand the weight a fighter carries, especially when it comes to special forces," said Deputy Minister of Defense Vitaliy Polovenko.

The new floating module is being developed by the Central Management of Material Support Development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Both foreign and domestic developers have been involved in its creation.

It is planned that such modules can be used with all approved models of body armor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"At the moment, several samples of such 'floating body armor' have been handed over to units for testing. If this stage is successful, we will begin laboratory testing," emphasized Polovenko.
