Specialists from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine are taking part for the first time in the development of NATO's new Science and Technology Strategy. This has been made possible thanks to Ukraine's privileged membership in NATO's Science and Technology Organization (STO).

The Science and Technology Strategy is a key foundational document that outlines the tasks, objectives, and mechanisms for their implementation, as well as the policies to be adopted by NATO’s Science and Technology Board over the next six years.

Ukrainian specialists are working on the document in close cooperation with representatives of the STO.

“The involvement of our specialists is a testament to the trust and interest of our partners in deeper collaboration with Ministry of Defense scientists in the field of defense scientific research and development. The consolidation of efforts and proper coordination will help achieve progress in the implementation of NATO’s Science and Technology Strategy,” said Volodymyr Mirnenko, Director of the Department of Military Education and Science.

He noted that the formation of a joint scientific knowledge base and the implementation of scientific diplomacy activities would contribute to Ukraine's European integration process and overall interoperability with NATO. Moreover, this will enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities through joint scientific achievements and technological innovations.

STO is a NATO support body working to meet the scientific and technological needs of the Alliance and partner countries by creating and disseminating advanced scientific knowledge, technological developments, and innovations.
