As part of the transition to a new model of providing the military with products, the Ministry of Defense will double the number of working groups for food quality verification in 2024.
Deputy Minister of Defense Vitaliy Polovenko, together with Anti-Corruption Council member Hennadiy Krivosheyev, continue to personally participate in some of them.
In particular, officials visited one of the military units - the Institution of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine, where laboratory tests of food products for safety and individual quality indicators are conducted.
"It is at the level of such laboratories that the compliance of food products with state standards and other regulatory documents according to which they are manufactured is determined. For example, eight regions fall under the responsibility of this military unit. Over the past year, the forces of such an Institution prevented more than 4765 tons of substandard and dangerous products from being supplied to the troops," emphasized Vitaliy Polovenko.
All identified violations will be documented, emphasized the Deputy Minister of Defense. Both the Ministry and directly in military units will react promptly to any violations, he added.
"Since the beginning of the year, inspectors have made about 50 visits solely to this institution for sampling food products. We have increased the number of such working groups. On February 2nd, the Ministry announced the first food purchases. Our goal is to send a clear signal to suppliers: quality must meet the standards," said the Deputy Minister of Defense.
