The Ministry of Digital Transformation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science, presented the Global Innovation Vision, outlining key directions for the country's development in domestic and foreign policy contexts.
'The government is working on the Strategy for Innovative Development of Ukraine until 2030 and has already developed a series of draft regulatory documents to support innovation activity in Ukraine. The main goal is to remove bureaucratic barriers that hinder initiative, create a competitive market where everyone with talent and initiative can implement their business project and contribute to economic growth,' says Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
"Innovations should become our national idea. Innovative entrepreneurship, in particular, is a crucial factor for the rapid recovery and support of the state transformation process. Therefore, the implementation of this vision is an important document that will help us correctly determine the vectors of development for an innovative future. I thank the Prime Minister for understanding the importance of the role of innovations in the country's economy," said Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
The Global Innovation Vision consists of three sections and an action plan: 'Innovation Ecosystem,' 'Support for the Innovation Ecosystem,' and 'Development of Priority Sectors.' The gradual implementation of the innovation vision will help the country make an economic leap and create favorable conditions for the development of business, education, and science. The strategy is needed because the world is changing rapidly, requiring a corresponding response from Ukraine. Population growth, security challenges in geopolitics, global climate changes, migration flows, the development of the digital economy, as well as the regionalization of international production, pose challenges and new opportunities for Ukraine's innovative potential.
"The United States and Ukraine share a strong desire to support Ukrainian innovations, scientific research, and entrepreneurship. We support innovation in Ukraine not only because it is a guarantee of rapid economic growth but also because the world benefits from it. The Global Innovation Vision presented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation will be a powerful platform for a strong, secure, and competitive Ukraine. We take pride in supporting the development of Ukraine's innovative ecosystem," said Theadora Dell, Acting Director of the USAID Mission in Ukraine.
Among the tasks of state policy in the field of innovation activity are the formation of a system of measures to stimulate innovation, the development of support for Ukraine's innovation potential, ensuring regulatory regulation in the field of innovation, creating smart infrastructure, promoting the development of an education system focused on training highly qualified personnel for participation in innovation, and ensuring effective interaction between science, the public sector, and business.
"Man remains at the center of innovation creation, but every researcher and business need infrastructure, organizational, and financial support. We present the Global Innovation Vision and officially announce the start of its public discussions. The priority directions of the vision include medtech, edtech, AI, borderless economy, biotech, greentech, cybersecurity, semiconductors, fluid economy, digital economy, agtech, and more," said Valeriya Ionan, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration.
The main mechanisms of the vision are the strengthening of the Ukrainian innovation system, a multilateral state policy to support and stimulate innovative technologies to address domestic issues and overcome global challenges. The main role of the state is to create the most favorable conditions for national and local companies, educational, and research institutions. Therefore, the presentation of the Global Innovation Vision is a significant step towards demonstrating the potential of the state.
The Global Innovation Vision of Ukraine was created at the initiative of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, with the support of the USAID Cybersecurity Critical Infrastructure Protection Project in Ukraine.
