In April, Ukraine will host an international event with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

This was reported to the Polish PAP agency by a source in the EU.

"The event will take place in April. Its details have not yet been made public for security reasons. One of the main topics of conversation will be the issue of illegal deportations of Ukrainian children to Russia," the source said.

In February, the European Commission announced that, together with Poland, it was launching an initiative in the case of Ukrainian children taken to Russia. The initiative aims to find children and bring to justice those responsible for their removal.

"The EC is launching, together with Poland, under the leadership of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, an initiative that concerns Ukrainian children. We are aware of the dramatic situation with Ukrainian children taken away by Russia and given up for adoption. It is believed that Russian forces took thousands of Ukrainian children to Russia from the beginning invasion," European Commission representative Dana Spinant said in February.
