On February 5, a meeting took place between the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom David Lammy. The parties discussed a number of important issues in the defense and energy sectors.

During the conversation, they focused on strengthening Ukraine, in particular, in the defense-industrial complex.

“Last week, the government approved the draft law on the ratification of the defense agreement with the United Kingdom, and yesterday it was supported by the Verkhovna Rada. This will allow us to receive £2 billion for the purchase of air defense systems and missiles, as well as for the organization of repair bases for military equipment and other weapons,” said Denys Shmyhal.

He noted that the implementation of this agreement and the arrangements between the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the President of Ukraine were among the key topics of the meeting with David Lammy, and added that Ukraine is counting on quick and close cooperation on this matter.

In addition, the Prime Minister thanked the British partners for announcing a support package of £55 million, which marks the start of the implementation of the Agreement on a Century Partnership with Ukraine.

“Part of the funds will be allocated by the UK for the implementation of projects in the energy sector,” emphasized the Head of the Ukrainian Government. He mentioned that cooperation in this direction was also discussed during the meeting.
