The SSU (Security Service of Ukraine) has arrested an informant of Russian special services who was collecting intelligence about the planned visit of the Ukrainian President to Mykolaiv Region. The perpetrator attempted to establish the timing and locations of the President's approximate route within the region.
However, the SSU acted proactively, obtaining information about the reconnaissance and subversive activities of the suspect and implementing additional security measures during the President's visit.
Subsequently, the Ukrainian intelligence continued documenting the hostile actions of the informant to gather new information about her Russian handlers and the tasks she received.
It was revealed that the hostile informant had other objectives as well. Specifically, she aimed to identify the locations of radio-electronic warfare systems and ammunition depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Ochakiv region.
According to available data, the occupiers planned to use this information to prepare for a new massive air strike on Mykolaiv Region.
The SSU apprehended the Russian accomplice "red-handed" during an attempt to pass the gathered intelligence to the invaders.
The investigation showed that the culprit was a resident of Ochakiv, who was formerly employed as a saleswoman in a military store located within one of the military units in the region.
To collect intelligence, she traveled around the region and filmed the locations of Ukrainian objects.
Furthermore, she attempted to clandestinely obtain necessary information through her own connections, including social institutions in the region.
Currently, the SSU investigators have informed the detainee about the charges under Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information on the direction, movement of weapons, armaments, and ammunition to Ukraine, the movement, relocation, or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
At present, the perpetrator is remanded in custody, and there is a possibility of additional qualification of her criminal actions.
The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The offender faces up to 12 years in prison.
