The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another Russian informant in the Donetsk region. The individual provided information to the Russian FSB, disclosing the locations of Ukrainian defenders in the front-line areas of the region. The primary areas of interest for the aggressor were the locations with the highest concentration of personnel and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kramatorsk.
The informant utilized optical sights for weapons to gather reconnaissance data. He personally surveyed the city and observed the movements of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. He specifically targeted temporary deployment points of Ukrainian troops. Upon identifying these locations, the informant conducted reconnaissance and transmitted accurate geolocations to the aggressor.
The gathered intelligence was intended for the occupiers to prepare for new missile and drone strikes on the front-line city. SSU operatives exposed the Russian informant, determined his location, and successfully apprehended him.
According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a 30-year-old local resident who was remotely recruited by the Russian military intelligence earlier this year as a supporter of Kremlin ideology. During the search at the detainee's residence, a mobile phone with evidence of his correspondence with the Russian military intelligence was seized.
The informant has been informed of the suspicion under Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement, relocation, or placement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under conditions of martial law). He is currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 12 years in prison.
The comprehensive measures to expose the collaborator of the occupiers were carried out by the SSU in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
