The Security Service of Ukraine's counterintelligence has detained another participant in the FSB's espionage network, which was planning an attack on the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region on May 9th of this year.

The day before this, the SSU detained two organizers of the hostile group. Later, their accomplice was identified, who had hidden weapons and ammunition under his 6-year-old daughter's bed in his own apartment.

Currently, the Ukrainian special service is searching for the fourth participant in the FSB espionage network, known by the codename "Phantom." After a series of arrests of his accomplices, he went into hiding in an attempt to avoid punishment.

According to the investigation, the suspect is a resident of the regional capital, a former military serviceman with skills in silent shooting from a "Vintorez" sniper rifle. This type of weapon is manufactured in the Russian Federation and is primarily used by special forces units of the aggressor country.

Based on available information, it was with such a rifle that "Phantom" was supposed to carry out an attack on the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units fighting on the southern frontlines.

For this purpose, Russian "curators" of the hostile sniper planned to provide him with a hiding place containing weapons of mass destruction.

After the neutralization of other participants in the espionage group, "Phantom" once again made contact with his FSB handler.

During a communication session, he gave his agent a new task: to adjust the enemy's strike on the Ukrainian positions using Russian flamethrower systems called "Solntsepek."

In gathering intelligence on the locations of Ukrainian defenders' bases, the suspect attempted to clandestinely utilize his acquaintances from the front-line areas of the region.

As a result of a multi-stage special operation, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent and thereby prevented an enemy strike on the frontline units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

During searches at the detainee's place of residence, more than half a thousand rounds of various calibers were seized, including .308 Win cartridges for shooting from a sniper rifle.
