The startup Osavul, which specializes in AI-based media analytics, has raised $3 million (€2.78 million) in a late seed funding round. The company plans to expand its expertise from the public sector to the private sector.
According to the announcement from Osavul, the company will use "innovative AI solutions to protect brand reputations for businesses." The company's product will analyze the information space and identify "narrative attacks and threats online" to protect organizations from reputational harm.
The investment in Osavul comes from three European investors: 42CAP, u.ventures, and SMRK. This is one of the largest investments in this sector in Europe, according to the startup. It is not the company's first investment—last year, the startup reported raising $1 million.
The valuation of Osavul is not disclosed.
"The involvement of 42CAP, a German fund with an excellent reputation, is a significant milestone for Osavul’s expansion. It opens new doors for raising funds from Western investors at a later stage," the company stated.
"Founded in February 2022 in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and aimed at combating disinformation, Osavul has developed an AI-based intelligence platform for assessing the information environment. The solution is capable of processing data from text, video, and audio formats across various platforms, including websites, social media, and more," said Osavul.
The funds will be used to scale the project globally, enhance AI algorithms, and create "new opportunities in the B2B segment."
In 2023, the company's product helped identify over 600 information threats. Osavul reports having around 500 users and clients.
