On May 7th, the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place at the Malmö Arena in the Swedish city of Malmö. Ukrainian duo alyona alyona and Jerry Heil will perform under number 5 with the song "Teresa & Maria".
Jerry Heil starts the song, followed by a rap verse performed by alyona alyona. The chorus is sung together in Ukrainian and English.
According to them, the song tells the story of the strength of Ukrainian women who have faced many challenges during the war. Recently, alyona alyona and Jerry Heil presented a social video for their track, featuring Tetyana and Lyudmyla, teachers from the destroyed Velikokostromska Gymnasium hit by the Russian shelling.
The song has only three lines in English: "I'm not holy, I'm alive", "With us Mama Teresa, Diva Maria", "All the divas were born as the human beings".
It's worth mentioning that the staging director for Ukraine's performance is two-time Grammy nominee Tanu Muino.
The 68th Eurovision Song Contest will take place next week in Malmö, Sweden. The semi-finals of Eurovision 2024 will be held on May 7th and 9th, with the final scheduled for Saturday, May 11th.
