Trade turnover in Ukraine totals $58 billion in first five months of 2026

During January–May 2026, Ukraine imported goods worth 40.5 billion dollars and exported goods worth 17.5 billion dollars.

This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

According to the agency, taxable imports during this period amounted to 27.8 billion dollars, or 69% of the total imported goods.

The tax burden per 1 kg of taxable imports in January–May was 0.56 dollars per kilogram.

The largest imports to Ukraine came from China – 11.1 billion dollars, Poland – 3.9 billion dollars, and Turkey – 2.7 billion dollars.

Ukraine exported the most to Poland – 2 billion dollars, Turkey – 1.5 billion dollars, and Italy – 1.1 billion dollars.

Of the total goods imported in the first five months of 2026, 72% consisted of the following categories:

  • machinery, equipment, and transport (17 billion dollars; customs clearance of these goods brought 95.9 billion hryvnias to the budget, or 27% of customs revenue)
  • fuel and energy goods (6.4 billion dollars; 126.2 billion hryvnias in customs payments collected)
  • chemical industry products (5.7 billion dollars; 47.2 billion hryvnias in customs payments collected)

The top three export categories from Ukraine were:

  • food products (10.6 billion dollars)
  • metals and metal products (1.7 billion dollars)
  • machinery, equipment, and transport (1.5 billion dollars)

In January–May 2026, export customs duties on goods subject to export duty generated 744.3 million hryvnias in budget revenue.
