The geographical indication 'Transcarpathia/Transcarpathian Wine' was registered in the State Register of Geographical Indications of Ukraine on May 29, 2024 (No. 3129).
This was announced by the corporation 'Ukrvinprom' in a Facebook post.
It is noted that this event is an important step in the development of this winemaking region, as it not only emphasizes the uniqueness of Transcarpathian wines but also contributes to strengthening the positions of the Ukrainian wine industry in the international market. One of the priority tasks is to open new export routes for Ukrainian producers.
"We have made tremendous efforts to officially recognize Ukraine as a winemaking country by the relevant institutions in the United States and Europe. In addition, we have also included Crimea in the register as an integral territorial zone of winemaking in Ukraine. We have achieved this goal, but we intend to continue developing. Currently, we have the geographical indication 'Transcarpathia/Transcarpathian Wine,' and we hope that Ukrainian wine will receive even greater recognition and development in the future," commented Vladimir Kucherenko, CEO of the 'Ukrvinprom' corporation.
