Representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, as well as the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, discussed the timelines and conditions for Ukraine's acquisition of a batch of CV-90 IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehicles) produced in Sweden.
The negotiations, chaired by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klymenko, took place within the framework of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Sweden on enhanced cooperation in the use of the CV-90 platform.
Dmytro Klymenko thanked the Swedish side "for the powerful support of Ukraine during the war and fruitful cooperation between the two countries."
The CV-90 Coalition was formed at the initiative of Sweden, and it also includes Denmark, Estonia, Norway, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Finland, and the Czech Republic. Ukraine joined the coalition in September 2023.
During the meeting, representatives of Ukraine and Sweden discussed the financial terms and Ukraine's obligations regarding participation in the project, as well as the timelines, conditions, and mechanism for the procurement of CV-90 IFVs.
In January 2024, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration received approval from its government to conduct negotiations for the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement on the supply of CV-90 IFVs to Ukraine.
"Such an agreement will not only enable a one-time delivery of armaments but also organize extensive cooperation in the defense industry, including the localization of production in Ukraine in the future," summarized Dmytro Klymenko.
