The Ukrainian national team defeated Iceland in the decisive match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Oleksandr Zubkov scored the first Ukrainian goal in the 83rd minute, followed by Oleksiy Hutsulyak in stoppage time.

With this victory, Ukraine advances to the playoff, where it will compete for a spot in the 2026 World Cup. The playoff matches will take place in spring 2026.

 

 

After the match against Iceland, Ukraine finished second in Group D with 10 points, behind France with 16 points, which qualified directly for the World Cup. Iceland and Azerbaijan took third and fourth place with 7 and 1 point(s), respectively.

  • On November 13, France defeated Ukraine 4-0 in a World Cup qualifying match.
