Ukraine has conducted another exchange of prisoners with the Russian Federation. As a result, 100 defenders have returned home.
This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Coordination Headquarters for Prisoner Affairs.
"Another 100 Ukrainians are back home in Ukraine. National Guard, border guards, Armed Forces. Most of them are defenders of Mariupol. They are all ours, all back on their native land. We are working on each and every one and will not stop until we bring everyone back," wrote Zelensky.
According to the Coordination Headquarters, among the rescued servicemen this time are 49 soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine, 25 border guards, 26 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including 11 members of territorial defense.
"All those liberated were of the rank of private and sergeant. 84 rescued soldiers defended Mariupol (including 82 from the 'Azovstal' defense unit), while the rest were carrying out combat missions on the Donetsk and Luhansk fronts," the statement said.
It is also known that from Russian captivity, they managed to rescue a medic who, in extremely difficult conditions, saved the wounded at "Azovstal," as well as the brothers Mykola and Roman. At least 28 of those liberated have injuries or serious illnesses. The oldest is 62 years old, and the youngest is 20.
"Since the full-scale invasion, 3135 Defenders have been liberated from Russian captivity," the Coordination Headquarters writes.
The department stated that in the process of returning Ukrainians from captivity, the United Arab Emirates provided humanitarian mediation.
