According to Worldsteel, global steel production for January-June 2024 stands at 954.62 million tons, which is 0.01% lower than the January-June 2023 figure (954.74 million tons).

Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, in January-February 2024, metallurgical enterprises worldwide produced 227.68 million tons of pig iron, including 209.30 million tons by blast furnace method and 18.38 million tons by direct reduction method. This is a 1.47% increase compared to January-February 2023 (224.37 million tons).
China leads in production, with 140.73 million tons of pig iron produced in January-February 2024, a 0.60% decrease from January-February 2023 (141.58 million tons). China's share of global pig iron production for these two months is 61.8%.
Ukraine, with 1.05 million tons (142.43% compared to January-February 2023), remains in 16th place among 40 pig iron-producing countries.
Steel
Global steel production for January-February 2024 reached 306.20 million tons, a 2.77% increase compared to January-February 2023 (297.95 million tons).
China remains the leader, producing 167.96 million tons, which is a 1.60% increase over the same period in 2023 (165.32 million tons). China's share of global steel production is 54.9%.
Ukraine, with 1.08 million tons (152.05% compared to January-February 2023), remains in 23rd place among 71 steel-producing countries.
