In January-June of the current year, Ukraine increased its export of semi-finished carbon steel products by 61.6% in physical terms, reaching 888,016 thousand tons compared to the same period last year. According to statistics published by the State Customs Service (SCS) on Tuesday, in monetary terms, the export of semi-finished carbon steel products grew by 47.3%, amounting to $439.909 million.
The main export destinations included Bulgaria (35.49% of shipments in monetary terms), Poland (11.74%), and Italy (8.56%).
In January-June 2024, Ukraine imported 5 tons of semi-finished carbon steel products from Egypt valued at $5 thousand, whereas in January-June 2023, it imported 72 tons from China valued at $133 thousand.
Previously reported, in 2023, Ukraine reduced its export of semi-finished carbon steel products by 36.7% in physical terms compared to 2022, totaling 1,203.454 thousand tons, with a 48.9% decrease in monetary terms to $608.516 million. The main exports were to Bulgaria (36.66% of shipments in monetary terms), Poland (23.01%), and Italy (9.60%).
Additionally, in 2023, Ukraine imported 96 tons of semi-finished carbon steel products from China (98.26%) and Turkey (1.74%) amounting to $172 thousand.
