During a meeting, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine, Matsuda Kuninori, discussed deepening cooperation between the two countries. The discussion covered both the implementation of current projects and the prospects for launching new ones — in the fields of engineering, energy, and more.

Yuliia Svyrydenko thanked Japan for its comprehensive financial, technical, and advisory assistance to Ukraine. Japan remains one of Ukraine's key donors in terms of support.

'We appreciate Japan's efforts in implementing projects through UNIDO, particularly the project for the transfer of Japanese technologies to Ukraine and the creation of joint ventures. Japan has allocated $188 million for this project, and we are confident that its implementation will positively impact the development of Ukrainian enterprises. We also welcome the decision to open a JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) office in Ukraine. This will facilitate the attraction of Japanese investments into our economy and accelerate the introduction of advanced technologies at Ukrainian enterprises,' Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

The parties discussed the localization of Japanese production in Ukraine and new opportunities for cooperation between Ukrainian and Japanese companies, particularly in the field of engineering.

Yuliia Svyrydenko spoke about new programmes within the 'Made in Ukraine' economic policy, the 'National Cashback' programme, and thanked Japan for its financial support in creating 'Made in Ukraine' offices.

Speaking about the 'Made in Ukraine' economic policy, the First Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of partner support in developing Ukrainian manufacturing.

'We are working systematically with partners to ensure they adhere to the principle of 'support Ukraine with Ukrainian products' and make purchases from Ukrainian manufacturers. This will have an additional economic impact,' Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

The interlocutors also paid considerable attention to cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining, including the localization of production in Ukraine. Currently, Ukraine is implementing a project to localize the production of Western equipment, such as the Croatian DOK-ING MV-10 mechanical demining machine. Ukraine hopes that leading Japanese companies in this field will also take advantage of the opportunity to localize production.
