Ukraine is prepared to directly procure weaponry from French manufacturers, as announced by the Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov.
He also urged French defense companies to collaborate in producing weapons within Ukraine. Minister Umerov made these statements during a meeting with a delegation of French parliamentarians who visited Ukraine. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the French people for their support.
In September, Ukraine and France discussed the possibilities of establishing joint arms production. In early October, it was announced that France would provide Ukraine with an additional six self-propelled 155mm artillery systems, Caesar, manufactured by the company Nexter.
Additionally, an agreement was signed for the maintenance of the Caesar self-propelled artillery units and the production of certain components at one of the Ukrainian enterprises. Furthermore, France is tripling the production of large-caliber artillery shells to increase supplies to Ukraine. This will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to receive up to 3,000 155mm shells per month, starting in 2024.
