President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada draft laws on extending martial law and general mobilization.

The relevant draft laws on the approval of the decrees of the head of state "On the extension of the martial law in Ukraine" No. 8419 and "On the extension of the general mobilization period" No. 8420 were registered in parliament.

According to the explanatory note, martial law in Ukraine is proposed to be extended for 90 days starting from February 19. "This law is immediately announced through the media and comes into force from the day of its publication," the bill's text says.

With regard to the law on the extension of general mobilization, if adopted, it must also be immediately published in the media and will come into force on February 19, 2023.

"The term for general mobilization is extended from February 19, 2023 for 90 days," the explanatory note to this draft law says. It is noted that its implementation will require additional financial expenditures from the state budget.
