The digital part of Ukraine has survived thanks to the IT army, information resistance, and Russia's blockade. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov during a speech at the CYBERSEC Award 2022 in Katowice.
The organizers awarded Ukraine and Mikhail Fedorov with two special awards "for heroic resistance to Russian aggression and protection of the digital borders of the democratic world."
"This award is first and foremost for the entire cyber community and the volunteers who are now waging the world's first cyberwar with us. While our brave warriors argued that the so-called "second army of the world" are ordinary looters and murderers, our IT community has refuted the myth of Russia as the strongest cyber power," said Mikhail Fedorov.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the world is witnessing a completely new level of cyber threats, which can already be called the world's first cyberwar.
"What the world is watching now has no analogs in the past, and this is an entirely new experience for us and other countries. Despite the full-scale war, rocket fire, and incredible destruction, we remain a technological power. Because technology is important not only for me and our ministry," Mykhailo Fedorov stressed.
The CYBERSEC Award is part of the CYBERSEC European Cybersecurity Forum, one of the most significant cybersecurity events in Europe. Since 2015, CYBERSEC has brought together cyber specialists, authorities, and experts from different walks of life. The main goal is to develop and implement the most effective solutions that will help solve urgent problems of global cybersecurity.
