The Ukrainian delegation at the summit on drone warfare, held October 27–29 in the Philippines, presented the concept of a new unmanned aerial vehicle called the FA v1.

According to Defense Blog, an image of the FA v1 was shown during a presentation of Ukraine’s vision for the development of aerial and maritime drones.

Although the rendered appearance of the FA v1 resembles a fighter, its declared parameters correspond to the class of tactical-level interceptor drones:

  • Range: 30 km.
  • Maximum altitude: 5,000 m.
  • Speed: over 250 km/h.
  • Air-target detection range: up to 15 km.

Military analysts estimate that these characteristics are typical for air-defence UAVs that Ukraine’s Defense Forces are actively using today. Such air-defence systems have proven highly effective against enemy reconnaissance drones, attack UAVs like Lancets and Shaheds, and wing-type reconnaissance drones.

It is stated that the FA v1 can detect targets up to 15 km away, which most likely implies the use of optical guidance that often includes machine-learning and AI methods for target acquisition and tracking.

According to Ukrainian representatives, the FA v1 project embodies the experience the country has gained during the Russia–Ukraine war, where unmanned systems have become a defining element of modern combat operations.
