Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the German company MAN Truck & Bus SE. The document defines the framework for cooperation in industrial development, localization of production, integration of Ukrainian companies into global supply chains, and support for investment projects in Ukraine.
The Memorandum was signed by Ukraine’s Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, Oleksii Sobolev, and Friedrich Baumann, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Customer Service at MAN Truck & Bus SE. The signing took place on December 15 on the sidelines of the Eighth Berlin Economic Forum.
The document provides for cooperation in a number of strategic areas, including:
- development of production and supply of wheeled vehicles based on MAN solutions;
- expanding the participation of Ukrainian manufacturers in MAN’s supply chains, particularly in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and IT;
- support for the reconstruction and development of the public road transport sector;
- cooperation in innovation and modern transport solutions;
- exploration of opportunities for direct and indirect investment in Ukraine.
Special emphasis in the Memorandum is placed on production localization and support for Ukrainian business. In particular, this includes:
- involving Ukrainian companies in MAN’s manufacturing processes;
- holding specialized events to present the capabilities of Ukrainian suppliers;
- developing cooperation in bus manufacturing and service maintenance.
“In partnership with MAN, Ukrainian enterprises will be able to carry out part of the company’s manufacturing and technological operations directly in Ukraine. The development of localized production will allow us to further utilize the industrial capacities of our enterprises, keep economic activity within the country, and increase exports of Ukrainian-made products,” said Oleksii Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The implementation of specific initiatives will be carried out on the basis of separate agreements, annexes, and roadmaps.
