The total amount of Ukraine’s state and state-guaranteed debt reached $180.97 billion as of the end of May.
This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
As of May 31, 2025, Ukraine’s state and state-guaranteed debt amounted to UAH 7,515.21 billion, or $180.97 billion.
"During May 2025, the amount of Ukraine’s state and state-guaranteed debt increased by UAH 34.88 billion in hryvnia equivalent and by $1.00 billion in U.S. dollar equivalent," the statement said.
Specifically, the state and state-guaranteed external debt amounted to UAH 5,584.80 billion (74.31% of the total), or $134.48 billion; while the state and state-guaranteed domestic debt amounted to UAH 1,930.41 billion (25.69% of the total), or $46.48 billion.
Ukraine’s state debt amounted to UAH 7,239.17 billion (96.33% of the total), or $174.32 billion. State-guaranteed debt amounted to UAH 276.04 billion (3.67%), or $6.65 billion.
According to IMF forecasts, Ukraine’s total public debt will rise to 110% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) this year.
