Ukrainian Armor and MBDA, the German manufacturer of Taurus missiles, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), launching negotiations on a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening defense capabilities in the areas of long-range strike systems and counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS).
According to a statement by Ukrainian Armor, the agreement was signed on Wednesday on the sidelines of the ILA Berlin exhibition.
According to MBDA, the main areas of cooperation will include the development of deep-strike capabilities and counter-drone systems. The partnership will also involve the exchange of technological expertise, the development of joint production programs, and the implementation of innovative solutions with the long-term goal of establishing a joint venture.
The companies noted that these areas represent only part of a broader strategic partnership program, details of which will be announced later.
“MBDA is committed to supporting Ukraine’s defense industry by enhancing the autonomy of Ukrainian industrial capabilities and will make a significant contribution through its extensive expertise in the development, production, and support of missile systems,” the company said in its statement.
For its part, Ukrainian Armor emphasized that its primary objective is to ensure Ukraine’s technological autonomy and provide Ukrainian defenders with weapons that deliver an operational advantage on the battlefield.
“We are combining MBDA’s deep technological expertise with Ukrainian Armor’s real-world experience in integrating weapons systems under wartime conditions and its manufacturing flexibility. Our joint work on deep-strike systems and counter-UAV solutions is aimed, above all, at strengthening the defense of our state in a high-intensity war environment,” said Vladyslav Belbas, Chief Executive Officer of Ukrainian Armor.
Ukrainian Armor is one of Ukraine’s leading manufacturers of armored vehicles and weapon systems. The company produces the Varta and Novator armored vehicles in various configurations and for different missions. It also specializes in mortar systems.
MBDA is a developer and manufacturer of missile systems and precision-guided weapons. Its product portfolio includes more than 45 missile systems in service with over 90 countries worldwide. The company participates in the production of several major Western weapons systems, including Patriot, Meteor, Taurus, Storm Shadow/SCALP, and Enforcer missiles.
