A Digital Sovereignty Alliance has been established in Ukraine, uniting cloud providers and data centers. The first members to join the "Ukrainian Alliance for Digital Sovereignty" include cloud providers GigaCloud, De Novo, and the PARKOVY data center. They have agreed to cooperate for the stable technological development of Ukraine based on national platforms.

The external political instability, which has significantly impacted the global technology market, as well as the country's digital and economic security, served as the catalyst for the formation of this alliance.

"Unfortunately, we are increasingly seeing how technological solutions are being used as a tool of political pressure from one country on another. As market players focused on the national market, our mission is not only to provide services here but also to protect the economy of the country, which is the 'environment' for our business and our clients," say representatives of the Alliance.

The primary goal of the organizers is to ensure Ukraine's digital sovereignty—moving, storing, and processing vital data, including state, medical, financial, and defense information, within the country and in compliance with current Ukrainian legislation.

"Due to the war, Ukraine is perhaps the only country in the world where state data is partially stored abroad. After the war, the issue of returning this data under Ukrainian jurisdiction will arise. Therefore, we are ready for a dialogue with government bodies on developing a strategy for such a return," said the founders of the Alliance.

Among the areas of focus are the technological "audit" of the country and the development of unified standards for infrastructure solutions. The providers are confident that this approach will create a range of new opportunities for Ukraine:

  • Building large, geographically distributed infrastructures between national providers' platforms.
  • Seamlessly transferring data between cloud environments of different providers without artificial technological barriers.
  • Ensuring the security (and preservation) of user data even in critical situations, including during hostile attacks.
  • Implementing the Data Embassy policy and multi-domain security technologies.

The Alliance representatives emphasize the need to enhance the competitiveness of the Ukrainian market, stimulate innovation, and strengthen cybersecurity. They share the understanding that Ukraine must become stronger and capable of managing its own data—a strategic resource that underpins economic growth and the development of future industries. This gives them a common motivation to be part of important national changes. Other companies that share the Alliance's principles and aim to work for the benefit of national digital security and sovereignty, including data centers, software companies, and infrastructure providers, can join the Alliance.
