At the DEFEA 202 exhibition, Ukrainian company Nordex introduced its Seawolf platform — a modular unmanned surface vessel (USV) designed for a variety of missions.

As reported by Army Recognition, Seawolf is built around a core platform with unchanged components, including the hull, engine, propulsion system, communication equipment, optics, and control systems. However, the upper deck is designed to accommodate various auxiliary equipment, making it adaptable for multiple mission types.

This modular approach aims to reduce adaptation time to new configurations and minimize the operator's workload. Seawolf is described as a drone optimized for mobility, stealth, and cost-effectiveness. According to Nordex representatives, the drone's design reflects Ukraine's maritime combat experience against Russia.

Nordex claims it can produce up to 25 Seawolf units per month. The standard version measures 7.5 meters in length, 2.2 meters in width, and the hull height is 0.52 meters. It is powered by a 270-horsepower diesel engine and can carry up to 1,400 liters of fuel, with a stated range of over 1,600 kilometers. The platform has a total payload capacity of 1,650 kilograms, and the warhead capacity is up to 450 kilograms. The approximate total weight of the basic model is 950 kilograms.

Several modified versions of the platform were showcased at the exhibition:

  • Seawolf R for air defense.
  • Seawolf MG for cover operations, with an MGR version featuring an integrated radar.
  • Seawolf EW for electronic warfare.
  • Seawolf M for mine-laying.
  • Seawolf D for transporting other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

All configurations are based on the same 7.5-meter platform, with modifications made only to the deck module and payload systems. This design enables rapid deployment for specific missions.

Additionally, Nordex unveiled the Seawolf Extended Platform concept, a future version with a 9.5-meter hull and a claimed payload capacity of 4,000 kilograms and a range of 1,500 kilometers.

It is expected that the combat equipment of this version will include four air-to-air AIM-9 missiles, a 12.7mm M2 turret, and a launch system for FPV drones or guided munitions. This version is being developed for applications such as combined tactical operations, surveillance, and border protection.
