The documentary film "Songs of Slow Burning Earth," directed by Olga Zhurba, has been shortlisted for the European Film Awards in the category of Best Documentary.

The film presents a mosaic of life in Ukraine during the first two years of Russia’s full-scale invasion. It depicts how society moved from the panic of the early weeks of war to gradually accepting death and destruction, which over time became a tragic norm for Ukrainians.

"Against the backdrop of the (meta)physical landscape of collective disaster, a new generation of Ukrainians aspires to imagine the future."

The project was produced by the Ukrainian film company Moon Man in co-production with international partners: Final Cut for Real (Denmark), We Have a Plan (Sweden), Arte France (France), and Film i Skåne (Sweden).

The European Film Awards is one of Europe’s most prestigious film prizes, recognizing the best films on the continent.

The winners will be announced on November 18, 2025.
