Russian missile corvette of project 21631 Buyan-M - Serpukhov, apparently became inoperative after the fire, and it will be difficult to restore it.
This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, Captain 3rd Rank Dmytro Pletenchuk, during the United News marathon.
"We can only state the fact that after the fire, the Russian missile corvette 'Serpukhov', apparently, became inoperative," said Pletenchuk.
He noted that a ship is a complex mechanism consisting of various elements, and when one of them becomes inoperative, the rest cannot be fully utilized.
"If it's communication, if it's automation systems, then the ship now needs repair. When such ships were built, it was no secret to anyone that, just like in planes, there was a shortage of Russian components besides metal, cables, and crew. Of course, it will be difficult for them to restore it," the spokesperson said.
As an example, he mentioned the Russian small missile corvettes of the near-sea zone type "Karakurt", which were built for the Black Sea Fleet.
"Four Karakurts have already been built, the fifth one is under construction, but the first one has not yet passed state trials, and it has been in operation for three years already. Russians have problems with components, of course," Pletenchuk emphasized.
As reported, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informed that a fire occurred on the Russian missile corvette Serpukhov, located at the naval base in the city of Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation, on April 7, as a result of which its communication and automation means were destroyed.
