Ukrainian exporters increased their physical sales volumes by 36.2% in January-September 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, exporting a total of 99.3 million tons, according to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.
In the last three quarters, nearly 99.3 million tons of products were exported, totaling $28.9 billion—6% more than the previous year. Notably, the export dynamics in September compared to August showed growth, with the highest quarterly revenue of $3.2 billion, indicating an increase in high-value-added goods exports.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka emphasized that positive trends are evident in the metallurgy sector for the first nine months of 2024. There was a significant rise in the export of semi-finished iron products, which increased by 65.5% to 1.5 million tons; flat-rolled products rose by 86.2% to 1.1 million tons; pipes increased by 52.2% to 338,000 tons; and iron ore exports reached 25.2 million tons, marking a growth of 99.6%.
In 2024, Ukraine regained some of its lost positions in the global iron ore market. In the first eight months of the year, 23.3 million tons of ore were exported—almost equivalent to the total for 2022 and significantly more than in 2023. This year's export pace is nearly double that of last year, generating over $2 billion in foreign currency revenue for Ukraine.
Capital investments in the Metallurgical Production and Manufacturing of Finished Metal Products, Except Machinery and Equipment sector also saw substantial growth, amounting to nearly 10 billion UAH in 2023, which is 55.8% more than in 2022.
