The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) carried out an underwater strike on two key supports of the illegally constructed Crimean Bridge using more than two tonnes of explosives, SSU head Vasyl Malyuk said during a press briefing.

"To be frank: this is the third time we have used explosives on the bridge — 1,100 kg plus another 1,100 kg. So twice 1,100 kg on the key supports of the illegal structure on Ukrainian territory. I won’t share additional details for obvious reasons. But believe me, this is the beginning of a new era," the intelligence chief stated.

He recalled that the SSU has struck the bridge three times: in 2022, they used a truck loaded with 21 tonnes of TNT equivalent explosives; in 2023, they employed two Sea Baby marine drones in an operation conducted jointly with the Navy.

In 2025, the special service carried out an underwater strike on the structure, Malyuk noted.

"I can tell you for sure: together with the 13th Main Directorate of the SSU’s Military Counterintelligence Department, we have started a new era of 'maritime history'," he emphasized.

The operation to sabotage the Crimean Bridge took place on June 3, 2025. The Ukrainian Navy reported that the strike significantly damaged the structure and would impact the Russian logistics.
