Americans are pushing Russian gas out of Europe, and Ukraine helped with this; US energy companies now want to enter the Ukrainian market.

This was stated by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Americans will completely push Russian gas out of Europe anyway. We need to understand—despite various agreements, Russia has lost Europe to the Americans. Ukraine undoubtedly helped. US energy companies want to enter the Ukrainian market,” Zelenskyy said during a meeting with journalists on Sunday.

He gave an example of a bilateral gas project with the US:

“One option is to build an LNG terminal in Odessa, but here we need to negotiate with Turkey so the Bosporus can be used for this.”

According to him, Ukraine presented this gas project both at the White House and to American companies. Another project, Zelenskyy noted, is nuclear energy.

“There are 15 blocks [energy units at Ukrainian nuclear power plants]. Six of them need to be resolved—they are temporarily occupied, but we have an agreement with Westinghouse. There is also financial backing that wants to enter this project with the United States. We can build an additional nine blocks in Ukraine if we cooperate with the Americans,” the president said.

At the same time, the US has a strong interest in oil.

“We have the Odessa-Brody pipeline. And the US wants Russian gas—zero, and Russian oil—zero,” Zelenskyy explained.
