Russia has launched more than 100 ballistic missiles at Kyiv and the Kyiv region over the past two weeks. Ukraine is currently facing a shortage of missiles for its Patriot air defence systems, while deliveries of military assistance are being delayed.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the statement.
"Just this month, since 14 October, there have already been several Russian ballistic missile attacks. In fact, more than 100 ballistic missiles have been launched against Kyiv and the Kyiv region in just two weeks. We are doing everything possible to protect our energy sector, our infrastructure and our logistics. And the task is extremely difficult," Zelenskyy said.
The President thanked Ukraine's partners who provide timely support but noted that delays in deliveries, particularly of missiles for Patriot systems, are making it difficult for Ukraine to defend itself against Russian ballistic missiles.
"If support from our partners for Ukraine remained equally strong, particularly when it comes to our Patriots and other air defence systems, Ukraine would be in a completely different position, including a much stronger diplomatic position," Zelenskyy said.
The President stressed that Russia continues to target Ukraine's logistics and urban infrastructure. In a recent attack on Kyiv, buildings on a university campus, residential buildings, a metro station and metro lines were damaged. Russian forces also struck the Pivdennyi Bridge, one of the capital's key transport arteries.
According to Zelenskyy, Russian attacks are continuing not only against Kyiv but also against Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Odessa, Kharkiv, Sumy and Kherson.
"It is important that the entire world sees this, that our partners see this. In the United States, on which almost everything concerning Patriot depends, there must be responses and the necessary authorisations from the Pentagon for Patriot deliveries," the President said.
He added that Ukraine is working to secure new support packages from its partners to protect the country's energy system, infrastructure and logistics.
