For the second day in a row, Ukrainian cities are under rocket and bomb attacks.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi recorded a new video address to the Ukrainian people.
The video was recorded on the second day after Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the imposition of anti-Russian sanctions by a number of countries.
Zelensky's address: complete statement
"German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said yesterday about Russia's invasion of Ukraine that Europe has not seen this for 75 years. And it's true. But this is not the whole truth.
This is not just Russia's invasion of Ukraine, this is the beginning of the war against Europe. Against the unity of Europe. Against basic human rights in Europe. Against all the rules of coexistence on the continent. Against the fact that European states refuse to divide, they divide borders by force.
For the second day in a row, Ukrainian cities are under rocket and bomb attacks. Tank columns and air raids are as similar as possible to what Europe has seen for a long time - during World War II and what it said: "never again". But here it is! There is again. Now. In 2022. 75 years after the end of World War II.
I'm sure you see it - all of you, all of Europe. But we do not fully know what you will do with it. How will you protect yourself when you are so slowly helping us in Ukraine?
I will list what has already happened. And thank you for thatâsectoral sanctions. The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, and New Zealand have imposed such sectoral sanctions against Russia. In particular, against all central banks. Against the largest Russian enterprises. Against Russia's access to Western technologies.
But Russian tanks are still firing on homes in our cities. Armored vehicles are still attacking, including civiliansâordinary citizens of Ukraine.
Europe has enough strength to stop this aggression. What to expect from European countries?
Cancellation of visas for Russians? Disconnect from SWIFT? Complete isolation of Russia? Recall of ambassadors? Oil embargo? Closing the sky? Today, all this must be on the table because it is a threat to us, to all of us, to all of Europe. You can still stop the aggression, and we must act without delay.
Ordinary people can act, I am sure, in every country in the world, in every country in Europe. Go to the squares of your cities and demand peace for Europe, peace for Ukraine, stop this war. Go out, go to the square and demand an end to the war. This is our right. This is your right.
When bombs fall in Kyiv, it happens in Europe, not just in Ukraine. When rockets kill our people, it is the death of all Europeans. Demand more protection for Europe, more protection for Ukraine as part of a democratic world.
As long as state institutions in Europe are not in a hurry with powerful decisions, every European in his capital can already come to our embassy and offer his help. Also, demand from your governments that Ukraine receive more financial and military aid. Because this help is helpful to you. Because it is helping Europe. You help yourself.
If you have combat experience in Europe and do not want to look at the indecision of politicians, you can come to our country and join us in defending Europe, where it is indispensable now.
You have already been blackmailed with gas. You have already been humiliated. They already want to divide and divide you, just as they are trying to divide Ukraine today.
Protect yourself. Just as we protect ourselves.
I would like to address the President of the Russian Federation once again. Fighting is going on all over Ukraine. Let's sit down at the negotiating table. To stop the death of people.
And now, I want to appeal to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Stand firm. You are all we have. You are everything that protects our state.
Glory to Ukraine!"
