Ukraine is initiating all relevant procedures within UNESCO, as well as all other international mechanisms, and is demanding an immediate and appropriate response to the Russian strike on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced this on Facebook.

"By striking the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, one of Christianity's greatest holy sites, Putin has permanently inscribed his name among the worst barbarians in history. He deserves to be cursed for centuries to come. And he will lose this war," Sybiha stressed.

According to him, from the Mongol Horde in the 13th century to the Nazis and Bolsheviks in the 20th century, Kyiv's sacred sites have endured numerous barbaric attacks.

"Now we are dealing with Russian terrorists who have already surpassed ISIS in their crimes against cultural heritage. Only Russian scum, who hold nothing sacred, could deliberately damage the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a unique UNESCO World Heritage site under special protection," the foreign minister emphasized.

"We are urgently initiating all relevant procedures within UNESCO and all other international mechanisms, demanding an immediate and adequate response to this act of state barbarism. We expect a firm reaction from international institutions and world capitals. No vague statements, no silence, and no weak measures. Concrete action is needed to stop Russian barbarism," Sybiha said.
