Ukraine is negotiating to receive a number of interceptor missiles that are approaching the end of their service life, instead of having them disposed of.
This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi during a briefing.
“The Ukrainian side has managed to identify a number of interceptor missiles whose service life will expire in the near future and which could also be transferred to Ukraine. We are currently conducting active negotiations to obtain them, because what is the point of returning missiles to the manufacturer or disposing of them once they reach the end of their service life?” the diplomat said.
He added that Ukraine is proposing that these interceptors be transferred to its armed forces instead, and that Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is giving this issue high priority.
“We hope that progress can be made on this matter,” Tykhyi emphasized.
