The largest Ukrainian mobile operator, Kyivstar, intends to invest up to $10 million in creating an ecosystem of services for healthcare patients based on the company Helsi (LLC 'Helsi Ukraine').
"Our focus is on the development of digital services based on the telecom service we provide to customers. A notable example is the investment in Helsi. We invested in a small company, which initially was an information system for medical institutions and patients. What are we doing now? We are investing funds to build an ecosystem of services for healthcare patients based on this connection. The investment in Helsi is up to $10 million," said Alexander Komarov, President of Kyivstar.
He specified that the funding will be allocated as part of the overall investments of around $600 million from the parent company VEON.
According to Komarov, the company is actively developing telemedicine services, which have been used by over 1.1 million people in the first half of 2023. In the near future, the launch of functionality is planned, allowing patients to track the results of their tests within the application and schedule appointments for seasonal vaccinations.
It was previously reported that Kyivstar, after acquiring a controlling stake in Helsi (LLC 'Helsi Ukraine') in August 2022, invested $3 million in the company's development.
Helsi is a medical information system and a leading digital healthcare provider, known as a supplier of SaaS solutions for medical information systems to 1,300 state and private clinics. Kyivstar acquired 69.99% of Helsi in August of the previous year for 555.74 million hryvnias.
The number of employees in the company has almost doubled to 240 over the past year. In the second quarter of 2023, Helsi increased the number of registered users to 25.4 million patients, up from 25 million in the previous quarter.
As of mid-October 2023, the number of active unique users in the application has grown to 1.1 million, and including the web version, it's over 2 million Ukrainians, which is equivalent to pre-war figures.
Since the beginning of the year, Helsi has introduced new services, including urgent medical consultations, online doctor chats, and the exchange of medical documents, a search for doctors and medical facilities nearby, vaccination calendars, and a service for obtaining medical certificates.
