The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence stressed that the dam explosion would flood the left bank of the Kherson region, and this terrorist attack would bring more problems to the Russians than good.

If Russia blows up the Kakhovka dam, it will be able to delay the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for several weeks, and Crimea and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant will also be left without water.

This was stated in an interview with the Ukrainian Pravda by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov.

“It is partially mined, it’s true. Well, with any logic, it’s tough to evaluate the stupidity of the Russians (readiness to go on such a terrorist attack). There are just other aspects. First: why do it - what will they lose, and what will they gain? And second: you can partially blow up the dam, or completely. So, to blow it up completely, such work has not been carried out. Mining is carried out partially for partial destruction, if necessary. To destroy a structure of this level, tens of tons of explosives, correctly located, are needed," the major general said.

Budanov also stressed that undermining the dam would flood the left bank of the Kherson region, and this terrorist attack would bring more problems to the Russians than good.

"They will lose even theoretically the possibility of supplying water to the North Crimean Canal, to the Crimea, until we rebuild the dam, which will take a very long time. This will be impossible to do. And the most exciting thing is that they will destroy the possibility of the existence of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant because this facility is inextricably linked with it. Of course, they will make it difficult for us to advance for a certain period. And this, by the way, is not a very long period, about two weeks. But they will be forced to retreat directly to Crimea. In other words, if you produce continuous destruction, the scenario is as follows. Are they ready for it? I think not," the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence explained.
