The deputies of the Latvian Saeima supported the reallocation of five million euros for the purchase of drone systems to support Ukraine in 2025.

This was reported by Delfi.

"The deputies of the Latvian Saeima supported the reallocation of five million euros for the purchase of drone systems to support Ukraine in 2025," the message reads.

It is planned that the €5 million in funding will be redirected from the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' budget program for this year, designated for Latvia's contribution to the European Peace Facility.

The funds will be reallocated to the Latvian Ministry of Defense to ensure the procurement of drone systems to support Ukraine and contribute to the development of the Latvian industry in the field of dual-use technologies.

The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that the reallocation is possible because Hungary blocked the decision to provide military support to Ukraine through the European Peace Facility. Therefore, Latvia's planned contributions to the mechanism for 2025 were not fully used, and the unused amount is being redistributed within the funds available in the state budget.
