Amid losses and panic among Russian troops in Syria, the Kremlin dismissed the commander of its forces in the Arab Republic, General Sergey Kisel.
This information was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine.
Previously, General Kisel had been responsible for disastrous actions during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, for which he was also relieved of his post and subsequently sent on a mission to Syria.
To replace Kisel and assist Bashar al-Assad's regime, Moscow sent another military leader—General Alexander Chayko, who had commanded Russian forces in Syria from 2017 to 2019.
Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, commander of the Russian Navy, also arrived at the naval base in Tartus.
After three days of successful offensives by pro-Turkish forces in Syria, Russian troops suffered significant losses, with some of their units surrounded. Hundreds of Russian soldiers are listed as missing in Syria.
