Last year, NATO member countries provided Ukraine with €50 billion in security assistance, exceeding their commitments made at the Washington summit.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at a press conference in Brussels.

"Since 2022, NATO members have been providing unprecedented support to Ukraine, including 99% of all military aid," Rutte said.

He specifically mentioned recent aid packages from Sweden, Finland, and Canada, as well as fighter jets Mirage 2000 from France and F-16s from the Netherlands.

"Other Alliance members are also increasing efforts to train more Ukrainian soldiers. The newly created NATO command in Wiesbaden, supporting Ukraine, coordinates these and future contributions," said the NATO Secretary General.

He reminded that during the Washington summit, Alliance members promised to provide €40 billion in security assistance to Ukraine in 2024, and they "not only fulfilled their commitments but significantly exceeded them."

"They provided over €50 billion, more than half of which came from European Alliance members and Canada," Rutte emphasized.

According to him, this is a clear signal of NATO's unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine.

"But to truly change the trajectory of the conflict, we must do more. The stronger Ukraine is on the battlefield, the stronger it will be at the negotiation table, and the more likely it is to achieve a good deal for lasting peace. This is what we all want—for Ukraine, for our common security, and for global stability," Rutte stated.

The next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group is taking place on February 12 at NATO's headquarters, chaired by the United Kingdom.

On February 13, NATO defense ministers will meet in Brussels, with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte presiding. In the format of the NATO-Ukraine Council, they will meet with Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas.
