A cooperation agreement has been signed between Trostianets, Metinvest, and the Italian company Ai Studio/Ai Engineering to design a new eco-friendly microdistrict for 11,600 residents, announced Trostianets mayor Yuriy Bova.
“The new housing in Trostianets will be highly energy-efficient. The first results were presented at ReBuild Ukraine in Warsaw. In the presence of representatives of the Italian government, we signed a cooperation agreement with the Italian design organization Ai Studio/Ai Engineering and Metinvest on the eco-oriented design of a new city microdistrict,” Bova wrote on Facebook.
Previously, Metinvest presented four “Steel Dream” neighborhood concepts for Bakhmut, Mariupol, Trostianets, and Hlukhiv at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) 2025 in Rome.
The concept presented in Warsaw for Trostianets covers an 88-hectare site in the western part of the city. It combines residential quarters with a dendropark and includes key community projects such as an industrial park, biathlon complex, and rehabilitation center. Of the total area, 19 hectares are allocated for construction (10.5 for residential, 8.5 for public facilities) and 50 hectares for greenery. The plan includes five-story buildings with 6,595 apartments for approximately 11,600 residents, along with educational institutions—preschools for 630 children and schools for 800 students. Parking spaces total 3,530.
The planning solutions optimize sunlight, wind, and energy balance. The proposed solutions are 70% more efficient than the current European standard for new construction and approach NZEB (nearly zero-energy building) standards.
“This project will allow the construction of new housing for displaced persons with a 52% reduction in energy maintenance costs. The completed microdistrict will meet all three international eco-construction standards (LEED, BREEAM, Well - IF-U),” Bova added.
