Moldova’s National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) has approved the extension of preferential conditions for gas transportation via the Trans-Balkan corridor. This measure is aimed at ensuring reliable gas supplies to Ukraine, according to Radio Free Europe citing ANRE’s press service.
“On October 24, amendments were approved to Decision No. 272/2025 regarding the Trans-Balkan pipeline, taking into account a joint initiative submitted by the gas transmission system operators of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine. The initiative is aimed at strengthening regional energy security and ensuring the supply of natural gas to Ukraine,” the statement reads.
The amendments provide for the continuation of preferential conditions for a period of six months (November 2025 – April 2026), including a 50% discount on transportation tariffs for SRL Vestmoldtransgaz at the interconnection points between Caușeni and Grebeniki.
According to ANRE, this decision strengthens Moldova’s role as a regional transit corridor, facilitating the transport of natural gas from Greece to Ukraine and diversifying supply routes and sources.
It is noted that thanks to the Trans-Balkan corridor, Ukraine now has the opportunity to import gas through Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and Moldova. This route expands the country’s access to southern resources and allows it to purchase gas from new exporting countries.
