Moldova is launching a new visa category for digital nomads, aimed at professionals who work remotely.

The visa is intended for foreigners who can demonstrate remote work and stable income.

It is valid for up to one year, with the possibility of extension, allowing holders to live and work in the country between travels.

Requirements include proof of income above a set threshold, possession of health insurance, and a clean criminal record.

Visa holders will also be able to benefit from a preferential tax regime or special tax conditions depending on their place of residence.

The country aims to strengthen its position as an attractive destination for IT and creative sector professionals. Digital nomads contribute to the economy through accommodation, rent, and consumption of goods and services, further stimulating the development of infrastructure, coworking spaces, and international connections.

Moldova joins other countries that have introduced special visa regimes to attract remote workers. Similar schemes already exist in Georgia, Portugal, Estonia, and other nations seeking to boost their digital economy and diversify income sources.
