General Mykola Malomuzh, the former Chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine from 2005 to 2010, believes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not abandon the strategy of liberating territories occupied by Russia in 2024.
He expressed this opinion in an interview on the Espresso TV channel.
"The strategy of conducting military operations is determined by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since we are the ones who control the situation on the front line and see the necessary forces and means to accomplish tasks. To accomplish these tasks, the Ukrainian defense industry has worked at full capacity. We have started producing ammunition, missile systems, and drones. Therefore, we can already count on the strategy that we see in perspective. However, I want to emphasize that the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot abandon the strategy of liberating Ukrainian territories. Of course, the United States can advise us on how to act and provide options, but we will decide on the strategy on the battlefield ourselves," explained Malomuzh.
The general highlighted the importance of planning actions according to the situation on the battlefield.
"Indeed, our military-political leadership has long been oriented toward the strategy of holding territories in the East and counterattacking in the South of the country. Our military is currently working on this strategy. Since military strategy is planned in the format of real war. Our allies can help us in planning. However, their calculations are based on games and computer modeling, which often do not correspond to the real conditions of combat," he added.
