In The Hague, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Rob Jetten met with representatives of Ukrainian and Dutch businesses in the defense, energy, and software sectors.
Teams from both countries also joined the meeting online from Kyiv, where Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade Sjoerd Sjoerdsma is visiting today.
“Thank you very much, Prime Minister, our ministers, and business representatives. It is very interesting that a Dutch minister is now in Ukraine, in our capital, while we are here in the Netherlands. It is important that our businesses are working together. We are counting on you and on our relations. And we trust each other. Of course, when the war ends, we will welcome Dutch businesses to Ukraine to help rebuild our country. We are very open to that. Thank you for the opportunity to talk and for this new format of communication,” the Head of State said.
The President emphasized that this is one of the key components of bilateral relations between Ukraine and the Netherlands.
“We want all political agreements to be followed by tangible economic results at the company level in our two countries, creating economic growth and jobs in both Ukraine and the Netherlands,” Volodymyr Zelensky noted.
During the meeting, the participants defined key priorities and decisions that can strengthen practical economic cooperation. They discussed defense production, joint technology and energy projects, and industrial development.
Particular attention was paid to the development of satellite technologies and air defense. The two teams are to work on the Bliksem air defense project. Work on it is already underway.
“We are taking our cooperation to a level where it is clear that standing alongside Ukraine also means achieving additional positive technological and social results,” the Head of State said.
Representatives of Dutch businesses spoke about the areas in which they are already helping Ukrainians navigate the challenges of this war and proposed new forms of support. They expressed their full support for Ukraine and thanked Ukrainians for defending shared European values.
