In one of the defense ministry's research institutions, testing is underway for the latest unified machine guns chambered for 14.5×114 mm and 12.7×99 mm cartridges.

The development of both prototypes is carried out by a private enterprise that has been designing small arms for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for an extended period, as reported by "ArmyInform."

The first development is a machine gun chambered for a 14.5×114 mm cartridge, designed to engage lightly armored targets such as armored personnel carriers (APCs) and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), as well as enemy firepower and personnel positioned behind light cover. It can replace the large-caliber machine guns and boasts improved characteristics.

After undergoing testing and completing the necessary procedures for approval for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is intended to replace the outdated large-caliber machine guns in the main armament of APCs and fighting armored vehicles of Soviet production. Its application as an infantry weapon is also planned, with the option of mounting it on a tripod.

The second development is a machine gun chambered for a 12.7×99 mm cartridge, and in terms of its characteristics, it is similar to the Soviet large-caliber machine gun and the American Browning M2.

After this weapon is approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is intended to replace the outdated large-caliber machine gun. It is planned to be used as an infantry weapon, mounted on tripods, stationary, as well as on tanks such as the T-64.
